چکیده
Abstract Physics of the multiferroic interfaces is currently understood mostly within a phenomenological framework based on screening polarization field and depolarizing charges. Additional effects still unexplored are band dependence interfacial charge modulation associated changes electron-phonon interaction, coupling lattice degrees freedom. Here, heterostructures colossal-magnetoresistance manganite La 1-x Sr x MnO 3 buried under ferroelectric BaTiO PbZr Ti O investigated using soft-X-ray angle-resolved photoemission. The experimental dispersions from La1-xSrxMnO3 identify coexisting two-dimensional hole three-dimensional electron carriers. modulates their density, affecting 2D holes 3D electrons with which forms large Fröhlich polarons inherently reducing mobility Our k-resolved results orbital occupancy, filling electron-lattice interaction in oxide modulated by disclose most fundamental physics these systems needed for further progress beyond-CMOS ferro-functional electronics.

Ultrathin limit of exchange bias coupling at oxide multiferroic/ferromagnetic interfaces.
Exchange bias coupling at the multiferroic- ferromagnetic interface in BiFeO₃ /La₀.₇ Sr₀.₃ MnO₃ heterostructures exhibits a critical thickness for ultrathin BiFeO₃ layers of 5 unit cells (2 nm). Linear dichroism measurements demonstrate the dependence on the BiFeO₃ layer thickness with a strong reduction for ultrathin layers, indicating diminished antiferromagnetic ordering that prevents interf...
متن کاملDual nature of improper ferroelectricity in a magnetoelectric multiferroic.
Using first-principles calculations, we study the microscopic origin of ferroelectricity (FE) induced by magnetic order in the orthorhombic HoMnO3. We obtain the largest ferroelectric polarization observed in the whole class of improper magnetic ferroelectrics to date. We find that the two proposed mechanisms for FE in multiferroics, lattice and electronic based, are simultaneously active in th...

We present an experimental and theoretical study of the geometric structure of ultrathin BaTiO(3) films grown on Fe(001). Surface x-ray diffraction reveals that the films are terminated by a BaO layer, while the TiO(2) layer is next to the top Fe layer. Cations in termination layers have incomplete oxygen shells inducing strong vertical relaxations. Onset of polarization is observed at a minimu...
متن کاملPolaronic discontinuities induced by off-diagonal coupling.
In this paper, we study a form of the Holstein molecular crystal model in which the influence of lattice vibrations on the transfers of electronic excitations between neighboring sites (off-diagonal coupling) is taken into account. Using the Toyozawa Ansatz and the Lanczos algorithm, the Holstein Hamiltonian with two types of off-diagonal coupling is studied focusing on a number of analyticity ...
